An educator who lives in Gilmer, Tamica Hill, 46, was glad she signed up for her 40-Over-40 photo shoot.

“This opportunity presented itself at a time I was needing something refreshing. It was just that. I am not one to weep and complain about getting older. I welcome it, but this new era needed something. This photo shoot was definitely a part of that formula. I had no idea what to expect. It definitely did not disappoint. The whole experience was amazing from the appointment to this very moment.”

Inspired by her favorite scripture Matthew 5:8 which reads: Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God, Tamica’s advice to herself back when she was a young mother is very poignant.

“Don’t miss a thing. Take off. Call in sick when your babies are sick. It matters if you are in the crowd. Just be there.”

Tamica, whose family includes her husband, Rickey, and children Jaylyn and Iyunna, considers her smile as her favorite personal trait.

“I can feel it all over my body when I smile.”

Like her winning smile, Ms. Tamica’s perception of what it means to truly be attractive hasn’t changed much over time.

“True beauty is whatever your truth is. The stretch marks of a mother, the gray hair on your head, and the number of years attached to your lives are all attractive. Life does not end at 40! I have so much to look forward to. In a world of darkness, I just want to be the light.”
