In the small town of Mount Pleasant, Texas, resides a remarkable woman named Ms. Robyn. At 46 years old, she’s a Mental Health Therapist, specializing in Licensed Clinical Social Work and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counseling.

Diagnosed with Leukemia at the tender age of 22, she faced the daunting prospect of a shortened life. However, with unwavering determination and a resilient mindset, she defied the odds, surpassing expectations and embracing life with open arms.

It was this unyielding spirit that led Ms. Robyn to participate in the 40 Over 40 portrait experience. Reflecting on her past struggles and triumphs, she wanted to inspire others with her story of resilience and the power of a positive mindset.

Her session exceeded her expectations. “The session was made very comfortable no matter what the picture being taken was and the pictures are amazing,” she said. Her favorite part of the session was being able to reminisce with an old friend who took her pictures and did her makeup for her High School Prom. “When I was a junior in high school – someone I am completely comfortable with after knowing for so long,” she said.

Her advice to others considering a similar journey? “Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone,” she says with a smile. “Just have fun and enjoy the session.”

Her immediate family includes her son Tryston, mother Suzan, and brother Jon. “Being in the extreme happy and content place that I am today,” she said is her greatest achievement.

A fact about Ms. Robyn is that she loves to salt-water fish especially during Red Drum season.

If she could change one thing about herself, she said “To be able to set better boundaries.”

Regarding her work experiences, the most rewarding for her is being a mother. “Because I get to enjoy so many experiences through his eyes,” she said. Her advice to young mothers would be, “Enjoy every second because they go by way too quick.”

“Take the time to pursue a psychology degree,” she said, offering advice to her younger self. She is passionate about her work with trauma clients, especially adolescents.

She would like people to describe her as someone who makes you completely comfortable to talk to about anything and everything. Her favorite trait about herself is the strength that she didn’t know she had.

Ms. Robyn’s motto: “You never know how strong you are, until being strong is the only choice you have”- Bob Marley.
