Meet Ms. Tammy, a 52-year-old administrative professional from Mt. Pleasant. Recently, Ms. Tammy participated in the 40 Over 40 Portrait Experience, sharing her journey and wisdom along the way.
“I wanted to feel good about myself,” Ms. Tammy explained as her primary motivation for joining the 40 Over 40 portrait experience. Indeed, the session exceeded her expectations in every way. “Rhonda was a blessing to work with. Additionally, she made me feel very comfortable, and the session was fun,” she shared, expressing how much she loved the entire experience.
The session had a big impact on Ms. Tammy. “This session made me feel beautiful and important. I was able to see myself in a different light,” she said. It really boosted her self-esteem.
Ms. Tammy’s story is one of survival and strength. “I was in a long-term marriage of 18 years with an abusive alcoholic. I was finally able to break away and, consequently, create a better life for myself and our two children. After enduring years of physical and emotional abuse, we survived!” she bravely shared. Her immediate family includes her mom, four sisters, and her two children—a daughter and a son. Her greatest love and achievement? “My kids,” she proudly stated.
When reflecting on her life, Ms. Tammy revealed that if she could change one thing about herself, it would be her feelings of insecurity and self-doubt.
Her favorite quote is, “The only limits you have are the ones you impose on yourself.” Furthermore, she encourages everyone to embrace their life and count their blessings. Additionally, she offered advice to her younger self, saying, “Stand up for yourself and know your worth,” and, to her younger mother self, “Protect your babies.”
One of her proudest accomplishments was taking a trip to Europe. She is most passionate about enjoying time with her children, family, and friends. Her favorite trait? “I’ve been told I have my daddy’s eyes,” she said with a smile. Ms. Tammy felt the most confident when she closed on her and her kids’ first home, a moment that made her feel accomplished and self-reliant.
Ms. Tammy hopes to be described as confident and happy. Furthermore, her future ambition is simple yet profound: “To just live and enjoy each day and each blessing.” Additionally, she aims to debunk the myth that age defines you. “It’s only a number. Moreover, how you feel mentally makes a world of difference,” she emphasized.
Her top life priorities are being fit, job security, and loved ones. During her session, Ms. Tammy felt incredibly attractive. Reflecting on what it means to be attractive, she noted, “As I get older, I have learned looks aren’t everything. They fade, but how a person is inside is what counts.”
Ms. Tammy’s story is a testament to the power of self-love and resilience. Her journey through the 40 Over 40 Portrait Experience serves as an inspiration to embrace life fully and appreciate the inner beauty that defines us.
