Meet Ms. Heather, a 46-year-old accountant originally from Shreveport, LA, now residing in Bossier City, LA. Like many women, she found herself immersed in her career and family life, gradually losing sight of her own identity. However, a spark ignited within her when she saw a childhood friend’s post about her empowering experience with the 40 Over 40 portrait experience. “Somewhere along the way, I had lost MY identity,” Ms. Heather shared. “I knew that I needed to do this for me.”
A Transformational Experience
Ms. Heather was pleasantly surprised by the session, which exceeded her expectations. She felt like a VIP and rediscovered parts of herself she thought were lost. She expressed amazement that the session captured a side of her she didn’t know existed, or perhaps had forgotten.
Embracing Femininity
Describing herself as a plain Jane, tomboy, type A with OCD tendencies, Ms. Heather had never viewed herself as pretty. However, seeing herself dolled up for the first time became her favorite part of the experience.
Her advice to others? “Be proud of you… all of you, exactly how you are right now at this age, in this body with all the scars, weight, wrinkles. They tell your story and it is a fabulous one.”
Ms. Rhonda, the professional photographer behind the lens, helped Ms. Heather embrace the power of her femininity. “I was amazed at how my inner me… that I felt had been lost or even died, was brought back to life and captured in such a fabulous way,” she remarked.
Leaving a Legacy of Strength and Kindness
Ms. Heather is passionate about teaching her daughter the importance of bravery, strength, kindness, and compassion. She strives to leave a legacy that will make the world a better place.
Beyond her immediate family, Ms. Heather’s passion lies in teaching her daughter the importance of bravery, strength, kindness, and compassion. She strives to leave a legacy that will make the world a better place.
Before Ms. Heather had her daughter, one fun fact about her is that she used to compete in firearm competitions (USPSA and Steel Challenge).”
As for the myth she’d like to debunk about the over 40s, she said “You’re old. Life is over. It’s all downhill from there. You must maintain your weight and face because public perception about beauty is the only thing that matters.”
For Ms. Heather, attractiveness has evolved from beauty to confidence and comfort in her own skin. She said, “If you have a good attitude and kind personality, your beauty shines more.”
