Ms. Tracie admits she wasn’t quite sure what to initially expect from her 40-Over-40 portrait experience.
“I thought it might help me feel better about myself,” Ms. Tracie said. “It exceeded my expectations once I got over being afraid and nervous. I’m 58 years old and this is the first time I’ve ever done anything just for me. Ms. Rhonda and Harley made me feel beautiful. My favorite part of the session was getting out of my comfort zone and getting my makeup and hair done. Ms. Rhonda had so much patience with me. I loved all of it.”
She has also loved being both a mother and a Grammie as well as her ability to breathe new life into otherwise discarded items. “I’m a recycle queen,” she said. “I love to take things people throw away and turn them into useful and fun things.”
When she’s at work, however, the Lufkin native takes what she does very seriously. “I love my job as an X-ray tech,” she said. “I help people every day when they are at their worst sometimes and hopefully help make their day a little better.” Ms. Tracie, a mother of three and grandmother of four, offers this advice to young mothers. “Don’t sweat the small stuff. It’s OK if the dishes sit in the sink overnight.”
On her life’s bucket list, Ms. Tracie would like to one day marry her best friend, see the Northern lights, and go skydiving. Her top three life priorities should be an inspiration to all. “Mentally, physically, and emotionally fit are priorities for me,” she explained. “After a divorce from a 37-year marriage and then having my ex-husband die from COVID a few months later, put those priorities in a different light. I realize how important they are at this stage of my life.”
