Motivated by weight loss, Ms. Carla, over 40, fit and fabulous, eagerly embraced the 40 Over 40 portrait experience, highlighting her over 40 fit and fabulous journey.

“I enjoy playing dress up,” she said. “Rhonda made me ‘Queen for a Day.’ I was never made to feel self-conscious and my photographs were amazing. I would say definitely go for it. It’s the best gift you can give to yourself.” 

Another gift Ms. Carla, 56, would like to give herself someday is the chance to see the Northern lights. Once she retires, she would like to travel the world. So, it makes perfect sense that her favorite motto is YOLO (you only live once). Here’s the admitted fishing enthusiast’s advice she would give to her younger self: 

“Don’t concern yourself with the opinions of others,” she said. “Your heart is the only one that matters.”

What also matters to Ms. Carla is her family, which includes her husband, Ricky, and sons Nick and Ethan, and three grandchildren. She counts her family as her greatest love.  And when it comes to beauty, the Atlanta resident defines it in simple terms.

“I think beauty is in the eye of the beholder,” she said. “People of all ages are beautiful in their own way.”
